経団連による雇用の見方：Keidanren's View on Employment

最重要課題かその「一つ」か？："The" or "A" Top Priroity?

下にリンクした「Asahi.com」の記事にあるように、日本経団連が、雇用安定をそれほど重要視していないと非難されている。その理由は、日本経団連が以前に雇用が「最重要課題」としていたのに対して、今回発表した来年の春闘方針では、単に「非常に重要な課題」としているためという。
日本経団連としては、最初から雇用を「最重要課題の一つ」といっておけばよかっただけの話しであるが、日本語ではそのような表現上の区別がなされていないための問題ともいえるのではないか。

According to the Asahi.com article linked above, Nippon Keidanren is being accused of downgrading job security as a management priority, since it announced its guidelines for the 2009 spring labor negotiations, where employment is regarded as an "extremely important issue," but not as the top priority as suggested by an earlier draft.
It looks like Nippon Keidanren should have said employment would be "one of the top priorities," rather than "the top priority," although such distinction is not normally made in Japanese.
