米当局者の戦術的声明：US Policymakers' Tactical Statements

今や米政策当局者は、金融崩壊を心配する一般の危機感を鎮めようと努力しており、またグローバル経済の回復のためには過度の規制はマイナスに働くと警告を発している。
実際に、これこそブッシュ大統領が明日からのワシントンでの金融サミット前に本日述べたことであり、またポールソン財務長官も金融システムはすでに安定しており、主要な金融機関で事情が急変するところはないと述べたそうである（下のリンク参照）。
しかし、これらの話しは割り引いて聞く必要があり、「戦術的」な声明とみなすべきである。なぜなら米政策当局者は、米系の金融機関への規制に関して他国の代表とこれから交渉しなければならないからである。

It looks like US policy makers are now trying to calm down the public fear of a financial breakdown and rather warning that too much regulation would be detrimental to a recovery of the global economy.
In fact, it is reported that earlier today President Bush made a statement to that effect in the eve of the Financial Summit in Washington, and that Treasury Secretary Paulson was said to believe that the banking system has been stablized and no major institution seems likely to get into trouble suddenly at this point (see the link above).
However, we should discount these statements, as US policy makers are now playing a role of negotiators with other governments' representatives regarding regulations over financial institutions, mostly based in the U.S.
