"Japan Economy Shrinks 2.4% as Exports Decline; Recession Looms"
http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601068&sid=af6NRSAc7yfo&refer=homeIt is reported in today's Boomberg News (see the link above) that the Japanese economy shrank last quarter as exports and consumption fell, likely leading the country to its first recession in six years.
The Fukuda administration seems slow in responding to this rather serious economic situation, and won't be able to present an economic stimulus package within the next few days, but toward the end of the month at the earliest. Also the package is not likely to include much fiscal spending and, therefore, won't be too helpful in avoiding the recession anyway.
