本田論文とタイのクーデター：Honda Paper and Thai Coup

本田敬吉氏（日本NCR特別顧問）は「日米間で包括的な経済連携協定を」という興味深い論文を「情報発信プラットフォーム」に寄稿したが、そこで本田氏は、日本としては包括的な経済連携協定をアジア諸国とではなく、米国と結ぶべきと主張している。その理由は、日本と米国とは政治・経済・社会のシステムがかなり同質的であるのに対して、日本とアジアとの間で経済連携協定を締結するにはギャップが大きすぎるからというもの。
本日勃発したタイのクーデターは、この本田氏の見方を支持しているように見える。日本がアジア諸国と包括的な経済連係協定の締結を考えるのはまだ早すぎるということであろう。

Mr. Keikichi Honda (Special Advisor, NCR Japan) has contributed a very interesting paper, "Toward an Economic Partnership Agreement for Japan and the U.S.," to our GLOCOM Platform, where he maintains that Japan should conclude a comprehensive partnership agreement with the U.S., rather than with Asian countries. This is because Japan and the U.S. share similar politico-socio-economic systems, whereas the gap between Japan and Asian countries is too wide to conclude such a comprehensive economic agreement.
Today's coup in Thailand seems to support Mr. Honda's view that it would be premature for Japan to try to conclude an economic partnership agreement with Asian countries.
