この映画「10 Questions for the Dalai Lama」は、アメリカ人の映画作家・監督であるリック・レイが2006年にダライ・ラマに面会して10の質問を許されたときのことをドキュメントしたものである。
ダライ・ラマへの質問は、「なぜ貧しい人の方が富んでいる人よりも幸せそうなのか」から、「非暴力哲学でどうやって悪と戦って勝つことができるのか」というものまで多岐にわたる。
このような質問に対して、ダライ・ラマは笑いを交えて、非常に控え目ながら心に訴える答を与えている。特に、最後の非暴力に関する質問については、平和憲法を信じる日本人には分かりやすい答、つまり「非暴力はどんな問題に対してもより有効な解決手段になるが、しかしもちろん自分を守るために時には暴力的な攻撃に立ち向かわなければならない場合もあろう」というのが、ダライ・ラマの答である。
なお、この映画は2年ほど前に作られたものであるが、その中に、チベットのどこかで「2008年の北京オリンピックにＮＯを」というポスターが掲げられているシーンが見られる。同様に重要なシーンがいくつも出てくるこの映画は、多くの国際的な賞を獲得している。

"10 Questions for the Dalai Lama" is an interesting and informative film produced by an American writer, Rick Ray, who himself asked 10 key questions to Dalai Lama in person in 2006.
His questions to Dalai Lama range from "why poor people look happier than rich people" to "how could you right the wrong with your non-violence philosophy."
In reply, Dalai Lama smiles and gives very humble and yet appealing answers. In the very last question about non-violence, his answer sounds very familiar, at least to the Japanese who embraces the peace constitution, that is, "non-violence is always a more effective means to solve any problem, although you may sometimes have to fight against violence to protect yourself. "
In the film, which was made about 2 years ago, there is a scene to show a poster, "Say 'No" to 2008 Beijing Olympics," displayed somewhere in Tibet. There are many other scenes of equal importance in this award-winning film.
