プリウスが最高の燃費：Prius with Highest MPG

ガソリン価格が急騰し不況色を強める米経済で唯一明るいのは、ハイブリッド車のマーケットで、燃費のよい車はあっという間に売れてしまうようである。
もちろんマーケット・リーダーはトヨタのプリウスで、ガロン当たり48マイルとダントツで燃費第1位。それに続くのがホンダ・シビックの40マイルと日産アルティマの35マイル。米車でそれに迫るのはフォード・エスケープの34マイルであるが、マツダのマリナがそれに並んでいるという（下のリンク参照）。

In the slow business environment with sharply rising fuel costs in the U.S. one of the few bright spots is the hybrid care market, which is so hot that fuel efficient cars are disappearing off dealer lots rapidly.
Of course, the leader in this market is Toyota Prius with 48MPG, followed by Honda Civic with 40MPG and Nissan Altima with 35MPG. The only American car close to this rank is Ford Escape with 34MPG, sharing the fourth place with Mazda Mariner, according to today's LA Times articles linked above.
