下落続く福田首相の支持率：Fukuda's Popularity Dropped Further

リーダーシップ不足が理由：Main Reason is Lack of Leadership

本日の「Japan Times」の記事（下のリンク参照）によると、共同ニュースの調査で、福田内閣の支持率は1月の41.4％からこの週末には35.6％に低下し、下落傾向が止まらない。
他方、不支持率は1.7％上がって、41.4％となった。不支持の主な理由は、福田首相のリーダーシップ不足とのこと。
暫定ガソリン税に関する福田首相（および自民党）のスタンスが、中国餃子事件や景気失速に対する対応とともに、内閣支持率に影響していると思われる。
もしそうであれば、福田首相は今日現在でまだトンネルの出口を見出していないといえる。

It is reported in today's Japan Times (see the link above) that the approval rating of the Fukuda Cabinet has dropped further from 41.4% in January to 35.6% this weekend, according to a Kyodo News survey.
The disapproval rating increased 1.7 point to 44.5%, where Prime Minister Fukuda's lack of leadership is the biggest reason for disapproval.
Mr. Fukuda's (and the LDP's) stance on the provisional gasoline tax, along with his handling of the Chinese gyoza incident as well as the worsening condition of the Japanese economy, should be affecting these ratings.
If so, Prime Minister Fukuda is yet to see the end of the tunnel as of today.
