プリンスホテルVS日教組：Prince Hotel vs. Japan Teachers Union

右翼団体の騒動回避：To Avoid Rightist Groups' Disturbances

本日付の「Daily Yomiuri 」の記事（下のリンク参照）によれば、日教組に対する右翼団体の反対運動を恐れてプリンスホテルは日教組が年次大会開催のために行った予約をキャンセルしたとのこと。
このホテル側の決定が問題なのは、言論と集会の自由に鑑みて日教組の予約はキャンセルすべきでないとする高裁判決を無視して行われたことである。
他方において、右翼団体の街宣車による拡声器を使った反対運動がホテルの客や周辺地域に迷惑をかけることを避けたいとするホテル側の決定に理解を示す人もいるかもしれない。いずれにしても、このケースは注意深く見守っていくべきであろう。

It is reported in today's Daily Yomiuri (see the link above) that Prince Hotel has canceled the Japan Teachers Union's reservation for its annual convention, apparently because the hotel is worried about possible disturbances to be caused by right-wing groups against the JTU's meeting at the hotel.
A serious aspect of this decision is the fact that Prince Hotel is defying a high court ruling that the JTU's reservation should not be canceled, based on freedom of speech and assembly.
On the other hand, some people might understand the hotel's decision to avoid public disturbances at the hotel as well as in the neighborhood, especially amplified noise by rightist groups' vehcle-mounted laudspeakers. In any case, we should watch this case carefully.
