首相来年夏まで続投決意：Fukuda Wants to Stay Til Next Summer

環境問題にコミット：Commitment to Climate Change Issue

本日の「Daily Yomiuri」の記事（下のリンク参照）にあるように、福田首相は来年7月の日本でのG8サミット開催の前に、G8および他の主要国のリーダーを招いて「気候変動サミット」を開催する予定とのことである。
明らかにこのことは福田氏が来年7月のサミットまでは首相を続ける決意を示したものといえる。首相のみが国会解散権を持っているので、これは来年夏まで総選挙がないことを示唆していると解釈できよう。

It is reported in today's Daily Yomiuri (see the link above) that Prime Minister Fukuda plans to hold a "climate change summit" prior to the G-8 summmit meeting in July by inviting leaders of G-8 as well as other major countries.
Apparently, this implies that Mr. Fukuda seems determined to stay on as prime minister until the G-8 summit next July. Since only the prime minister has the right to dissolve the Diet, this is a clear hint that no general elections might not be held at least until next summer.
