消える「対話」の表現：Vanishing Word "Dialogue"

本日７月１７日（月・祝）の各紙社説は昨日国連安保理で採択された北朝鮮非難決議を取り上げ、それが公式の制裁抜きではあるが「全会一致」だったことを評価する点でほぼ同じような内容となっている。
ある意味で日本的な横並びの社説だが、多少ニュアンスの違いもあり、「読売」、「産経」、「日経」の３紙は、北朝鮮が応じなければ強制力をもった制裁を行なうべきとするのに対して、「毎日」は今後とも各国の結束と中国の努力に期待するという内容で、さらに「朝日」は日米とも話し合いの門戸をいつも開けておくべきと結論付けている。
少し前まで国際問題について日本でもっともよく使われていた「対話」という表現が、いまや一紙の社説でしか言及されなくなったのは寂しい限りである。

The editorial opinions of Japan's major newspapers are about yesterday's UN resolution on North Korea, and more or less similar in content, appreciating "unanimity" in denouncing North Korea's missile firings.
There are slight differences among them, however. Yomiuri, Sankei and Nikkei call for further sanctions against North Korea if this resolution is not honored, while Mainichi emphasizes the importance of China's role in persuading North Korea, and Asahi concludes that Japan and the U.S. should open their doors to have dialogue with North Korea.
It is sad to see the only one major newspaper mention "dialogue," which used to be such a popular word among the Japanese public and mass media.
