東京国際映画祭の位置：Tokyo Int'l Film Festival's Position

本日の「Daily Yomiuri」の記事（下のリンク参照）によると、東京国際映画祭（10/20-10/28）のチェアマン角川氏が、映画ビジネスでは日本は米国に次ぐ第2の市場なので、東京がアジアの映画センターであるべきと述べている。
しかしこの記事でも指摘されているように、ここ数年は上海や釜山での国際映画祭が世界中から注目を集めてきている。
したがって、東京国際映画祭がアジアの中心的な映画祭としての地位を失わないようにするというこれまでの角川氏の役割は、これからも変わらないといえるであろう。

According to today's Daily Yomiuri article (see the link above), Mr. Kadokawa, Chairman of the Tokyo International Film Festival (from 10/20-10/28), is saying that Japan is the second largest market in movie business after the U.S., so Tokyo should be the film center of Asia.
As is mentioned also in this article, however, the film festivals in Shanghai and Pusan have been drawing more and more attention from around the world in recent years.
Therefore, Mr. Kadokawa's role has been and still will be to keep the Tokyo International Film Festival from losing its orginal position as the main film festival in Asia.
