Former US Vice President Al Gore and the United Nations' Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) win the Nobel Peace Prize for 2007 (see the link above). Al Gore's award has been widely expected, due to his popular movie "An Inconvenient Truth," which is somewhat controversial, however. In fact, earlier this week a British judge ruled that the film contained a number of errors from the rigorous scientific viewpoint, although Gore's main claims in the movie seemed to be in line with mainstream scientific research results on climate change (see the link above). This award might well make him look like a leading US presidential candidate, surpassing Hilary Clinton, to win against any republican candidate who is currently running for president.
