日本は今何をすべきか： What Japan Should Do Now

国連安保理が公式な制裁なしの北朝鮮非難決議を採択し、その直後に北朝鮮がその受け入れを拒否した今、日本がすべきことはそもそもなぜ北朝鮮がミサイルを発射しなければならなかったかをよく分析することである。
そうすれば前回の六カ国協議の合意に対して米国が北朝鮮と基本的に異なる解釈を示したこと、その後金融制裁を行なったこと、さらに最近大規模な対ミサイル演習をアジアで繰り広げたことなどが北朝鮮を刺激したことが分かるであろう。
日本は米国に対して、これらの問題を解決すべく北朝鮮と直接話し合うように（もちろん六カ国協議に加えてであるが）要請すべきである。そうすれば、日本は自分の立場から重要と考える拉致問題や経済問題などに努力を集中させることが可能になるのである。

Now that the UN Security Council has adopted the resolution on N. Korea and Pyongyang has rejected it, Japan should go back to analyze why N. Korea had to fire the missiles in the first place.
The key is a series of US actions against N. Korea after the last six party talks, including the financial sanctions and the anti-missile exercises that the US conducted in Asia.
So Japan should urge the US to talk to N. Korea directly, in addition to the six party talks, for resolving those issues that were initiated by the US, while Japan could concentrate its effort on the abductee problem and other priority issues from its own standpoint.
