デフレすでに脱却したか？： Deflation Already Over?

まだ存在する地域格差： Existing Regional Defferences

本日（8月18日）付の日経新聞の1面記事「デフレ『すでに脱却』26％」で取り上げられている主要企業の回答を読むと、デフレ脱却の感触については地域間の大きな格差が依然として存在しているようにみえる。
関東、中部、近畿、および中国、北陸といった景気の良い地域は、調査対象となった主要企業の過半数が、デフレはすでに脱却したか、あるいは遅くとも年内に脱却するという回答であった。それに対して、他の地域、特に北海道、東北、四国といった景気の悪い地域では、近々デフレを脱却できると回答した企業は比較的少数にとどまった。
最近の他の調査、たとえば人口や地価に関する調査でも、このような明確な地域格差を示す結果が出ている。このことは、地域によっては公的サービス提供が難しくなり自治体の存亡にもかかわってくる深刻な問題を提起しているといえる。しかしその出口は未だ見えていない。

According to today's Nikkei Newspaper (8/18), regional differences seem to be still existing when it comes to the question whether deflation is over.
In such bullish regions as Kanto, Tokai and Kinki, as well as Chugoku and Hokuriku, more than a half of the major companies surveyed responded that delation would be over now or by the end of this year at the latest. However, in other regions, especially in Hokkaido, Tohoku, and Shikoku, relatively few companies seemed to feel like deflation would be over anytime soon.
Similar regional differences can be observed in other recent surveys, such as the national population census and land price surveys. This should pose a serious question about the sustainability of some local communities in terms of necessary public services, but there seems to be no way out for the moment.
