ネット速度世界一の日本：Japan No. 1 in Internet Speed

ロサンゼルス・タイムズの記事（6/26：下のリンク参照）によると、インターネットのアクセス速度で、米国は日本を始め、韓国、フィンランド、スウェーデン、カナダなどに遅れを取っているという。
日本が世界一速く、同じサービス価格で、日本では61 mbpsに対して、米国では、2mbps 以下という大差があり、これは「映画一本をダウンロードするのに、日本では2分に対して、米国では2時間かかる」ことを意味する。
なおこの記事では触れられていないが、もちろん日本では、これだけの高速のサービスが十分に利用されていないという問題があることは言うまでもない。

It is reported in LA Times (6/26; see the link above) that the US is lagging behind Japan as well as such countries as S. Korea, Finland, Sweden and Canada in terms of Internet access speed.
Japan is No. 1, offering users 61 mbps, compared with less than 2mbps in the US at the same service price, meaning that "downloading a movie in Japan takes about two minutes, compared with more than two hours in the US."
Of course, Japan has its own problem--underutilization of this high-speed capacity, which is not pointed out in this article.
