「Japan in Context」4月会合
「Japan in Context」は色々な国からの参加者が増えて、ますますコスモポリタンな会合になってきたように見える。
今晩の会合では、まずグレゴリー・クラーク教授（英国・オーストラリア出身で、現在は国際教養大学副学長）と話しをしたが、クラーク教授はウェブサイト（http://www.gregoryclark.net/）でよく書かれているように、安倍首相に対する批判、特に北朝鮮政策への批判を展開。大変刺激を受けた。
また今晩は色々と学ぶことが多く、（１）清水学教授から日本外交の新しいアプローチについて、（２）フランス大使館のエコノミスト・ローラン・ペエーグ氏からフランス大統領選挙の見通しについて、（３）イタリア銀行のエコノミスト・デ・マルキ氏からイタリアの移民政策について、（４）日大大学院の中国人学生・王維一氏から温家宝首相の訪日についての中国人の見方について、（５）フォルクスワーゲン関連企業の部長・君塚吉是氏からドイツの自動車会社の戦略について等々を聞くことができた。それも2時間ほどの間にである！
日本でこれほど実り多い交流ができるのは、世界中から多様で質の高いメンバーが参加するユニークな「Japan in Context」の会合以外にありえないといえる。

"Japan in Context" seems to become more and more cosmopolitan, as there is an increasing number of participants from various countries.
This evening I enjoyed talking to Professor Gregory Clark (originally from Britain/Australia, currently Vice President at Akita Int'l University), who is rather critical of Prime Minister Abe, particularly in handling North Korea, as often expressed in his website (http://www.gregoryclark.net/).
I also learned a lot about (1) a new approach in Japan's foreign policy from Japanese Professor, Manabu Shimizu, (2) a likely outcome of the presidential election in France from French Embassy economist, Mr. Etienne Rolland-Piegue, (3) Italy's immigration issue from Central Bank of Italy economist, Raffaele De Marchi, (4) a Chinese view on Premier Wen's visit to Japan from a Chinese graduate student at Nihon University, Wang Wei Yi, (5) strategies of a German automaker from a Volkswagen manager, Yoshiyuki Kimizuka, etc., within a couple of hours!
In Japan, this kind of fruitful exchange is only possible at "Japan in Context," which is unique in terms of variety and quality of participants from all over the world.
