存在感増す中国経済：Increasing China's Economic Presence

日本も香港も抜く：Passing Japan and Hong Kong

本日の日経新聞（p. 8, 9）に、中国経済の存在感が高まっていることを示す記事が2つ載っている。最初の記事（下のリンク参照）は、2006年の自動車販売台数で、中国市場が日本市場を追い抜き、米国に次いで世界2位になったと報じている。
2番目の記事（下のリンク参照）によると、人民元の通貨価値が香港ドルを13年ぶりに（人民元が切り下げられた1994年以来初めて）追い抜いたので、そのために香港ドルは中国内では受け取りを拒否される一方で、人民元は香港内で広く使われるようになっているとのこと。
このような中国の存在感の高まりは今後とも続くが、今日の日本のように人口が減少に転じる2033年ころには下降に転じるであろうと、本日の日経ネット（下のリンク参照）が報じている。

In today's Nikkei Shimbun (p. 8 & 9), there are two articles reporting increasing China's economic presence. The first article (see the link above) shows that China's auto market has become number 2, following the US market and surpassing Japanese market in terms of units sold in 2006.
The second article (see the link above) reports that the value of the Chinese yuan has overtaken the Hong Kong dollar for the first time in 13 years (since the yuan was devalued in 1994). The Hong Kong dollar is no longer accepted in China, whereas the Chinese yuan is widely used in Hong Kong these days.
China's presence will probably continue to increase for a while, until around 2033, when China's population starts to decline just like today's Japan, according to an article (see the link above) in today's Nikkei Net.
