戦時中収容された日系人学生：Students Hurt by Internment

USCが卒業証書を授与：Certificates Given by USC

戦時中強制収容されて卒業できなかった当時USCの学生だった日系人に対して、USCが卒業証書を手渡したと、本日付の「Japan Times」の記事が報じている（下のリンク参照）。また名誉卒業生の名称も与えられたとのことである。
この記事によれば、そのうちの一人であるコダマ・ユタカ氏（86歳）は、「67年後に卒業が認められたことは信じられない」と述べた。
これはもっと以前に行われるべきで、遅きに失した感があるが、もちろんやらないよりはましであったといえよう。

It is reported in today's Japan Times article (see the link above) that USC (University of Southern California) have presented certificates to those who were prevented from graduating from USC by the internment of Japanese Americans during the war. Honorary alumni status was also given to each of them.
Mr. Yutaka Kodama (86) , one of the recipients, was quoted saying "getting recognized like this after 67 years is unbelievable," according to this article.
This is long overdue, but of course, it is better late than never.
