中央銀行総裁が空席の日本：Japan Without Central Banker

戦後日本で初の状況：For the First Time in Postwar Japan

「JAPAiN」（日本の苦痛）という表現が今の日本の経済情勢をよく表しているようである。というのも戦後日本で初めて日銀総裁を政治が決められないという事態が起こったからである。
これは国会では何も重要なことを決定できないという政治情勢を象徴する出来事で、国際社会にマイナスのシグナルを送る結果となった。
さらにこの事態が、現在の金融危機と世界不況の厳しいプレッシャーにグローバル経済がさらされているこの時期に起こったのは最悪のタイミングであった。
いずれにしてもこのダメージを回復し、日本が少なくとも経済的に信頼できる国際社会のメンバーであるという評判を取り戻すためには長い時間と日本人全員の努力が必要であろう。

"JAPAiN" (Japan in pain) may be the right word to describe the current state of the Japanese economy with no one sitting in the driver's seat, as Japan's politics has failed to pick a governor for the Bank of Japan for the first time in the postwar period.
This incident may signify the fact that Japanese politicians are incapable of making any significant decisions in the Diet, sending out a negative signal to the international community.
Furthermore, this comes at the worst time when the global economy is under severe pressure due to the current financial crisis and the resultant global recession.
It will take a long time and all out efforts on the part of everyone in Japan to undo this damage and restore Japan's reputation, at least as an economically reliable member of the international community.
