胡主席の訪日に影響は？：Effect on Hu Jintao's Visit to Japan?

不十分な記者会見：Unsatisfactory Press Conference

本日のロイターの記事（下のリンク参照）によれば、中国外務省報道官は記者会見で、中国の餃子事件は今春の胡中国主席の日本訪問に影響しないと述べたとのこと。
しかし報道官は、中国側の捜査の状況について何も詳しいことは答えず、ただ「今回の事件は中国の食品安全に関する構造的な問題ではなく、例外的な出来事である」と主張しただけであった。
これでは日本の消費者が抱く中国産の食品の安全に対する懸念は払拭できず、ひいては将来の日中のトップ会談を含む両国の関係に影響を及ぼさざるを得ないであろう。

It is reported in today's Reuters' article (see the link above) that a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman said that the Chinese-made gyoza incident would not affect President Hu Jintao's visit to Japan this spring.
But he did not reveal any detail about China's investigation into the incident but only insisted that "the incident was an isolated case rather than a systematic food safety problem in China."
This cannot clear up doubts about Chinese food safety in the minds of Japanese consumers, and should affect Japan-China relations including the meanings of summit meetings in the future.
