宇宙から飛ばす紙飛行機：Paper Planes Thrown from Space

日本人宇宙士の課題に：Task for Japanese Astronaut

本日の「BBCニュース」（下のリンク参照）は、鈴木真二東大教授のチームが国際宇宙ステーションから地球に向けて飛ばす紙飛行機を完成させていると報じている。今年宇宙ステーションに行く予定の日本人宇宙飛行士に100個ほど飛ばすように頼むそうである。
なぜ100個か？地球に届いた際に、海ではなく、陸に落ちるものが出るためには、そのくらい多く飛ばさないとダメらしい。
もちろんもっとも難しいのは、大気圏に突入した際に燃え尽きないように耐熱にすることのようである。
心からこのプロジェクトの成功を祈るばかりである。

BBC News (sse the link above) reports today that Tokyo University Professor Shinichi Suzuki and his team are working on paper planes which can travel from the International Space Station back to earth. A Japanese astronaut will be asked to throw about 100 paper planes into space when he travel to the Station later this year.
Why 100? Because it takes so many for at least some of them to hit land and not water on earth. Hopefully, some of them will be found and sent back to Japan.
Of course, the most difficult part is to made it heat resistant enough to be able to survive when entering into the atmosphere.
